The time has come, lovelies! The Imaginators by M.K. Valley (yes, yours truly) will come out any day now, to our horror. This short sci-fi novella is a labor of love.
The Imaginators: The Origins of a Story
It used to be a rejected submission of, what, five years ago. When I finally went back to it after the rejection, I was horrified by the quality of my writing and, of course, proofreading skills.
I could’ve shelved it. I thought about it. But then I thought, listen here, М! You have a complete manuscript of a proper novella with a great premise and likable (sure) characters. All you have to do is polish it. Again, and again, and again. I’ve been through three revisions and two line edits, and I think I’m finally happy with it.
And soon, it will be out there, along with all my hopes and dreams of a future in which I do what I love and love what I do in equal measure. For all my visitors, and all those who stumbled across Valthura by chance, here’s a blurb.
The Imaginators: The Blurb
Andria del Scorpio traded her crown for a sword.
Being an Assassin on Ares might mean rubbing elbows with the filth of the Infinite Universe, but at least she’s free. Her ability to imagine is perfectly suited to kill, and all Andria has to do is bag the prize money and consider the next Contract on the list.
When an illegitimate Contract goes according to plan, everything goes wrong for her and her partner. They have a month before they’re put on trial and chained for murder. As time runs out and unlikely alliances form, Andria’s ready to pay whatever price to preserve her freedom.
But as forgotten nightmares surface and the demon who made her forfeit her crown for the life of a murderer crawls out of the shadows, one thing becomes clear. The past won’t haunt you only if you kill it.
And no one’s better at killing than her.
Cover Reveal & Pre-Order Campaign
Here’s a back cover for all of you, sweet readers:
If you’re curious about it, I kicked off a cover reveal campaign right on my Instagram, so check it out. If you wish, go ahead and join the #WrittenWordChallenge. Don’t forget to use the hashtag so that I can stalk you!
The pre-order campaign for The Imaginators novella, book #0 of a series I’m currently calling Of Stardust and Aether, will start mid-April. Hopefully, soon I’ll be able to present you with a Goodreads page so that you can add it to your TBR piles.
Apart from the blurb, let me supply you with some trigger warnings so that you know what you’re getting yourselves into:
- blood & gore;
- implied sex;
- abuse, torture, and self-harm;
If that doesn’t bother you, I hope you’ll enjoy it if you decide on reading The Imaginators by M. K. Valley. It’s short, swift, and brutal. Just as brutal and casually violent as its main character – Andria del Scorpio. But if you want to learn more about the main characters in this future SF/F space opera, stay tuned. I’ll be introducing them and the world of The Imaginators soon enough.
